PET giant Octal Ohio recycling plant at normal operation

HOUSTON, January 14, 2016 (PCW) -- Octal's recycling plant near Cincinnati, Ohio, is operating at normal levels, a source close to the plant said Thursday.

Octal, a PET producer based in Oman in the Middle East, is a major exporter of PET to the US. It decided in early 2014 to build the recycling plant, in West Chester, Ohio, to take scrap PET from its US thermoforming customers to produce recycled PET food-grade sheet regrind, or flake.

An update on the status of the plant had been unavailable in recent months.

Oman is one of four countries that was hit in October 2015 with preliminary anti-dumping duties on US PET imports.-- Xavier A. Cronin
