Delays at M&G Texas PET plant tied to PTA equipment
HOUSTON, January 19, 2016 (PCW) -- M&G Chemicals on Tuesday reported delays from suppliers of "critical" PTA equipment to its PET plant under construction in Corpus Christi, Texas.
PTA is a basic PET feedstock.
The plant is designed to be the world's largest PET plant with capacity of 1.1 million metric tons/year of PET and 1.3 million MT/year of PTA. Its start-up is scheduled for H2 2016. M&G has not given a more specific time-frame.
"[A] couple of suppliers of critical equipment to PTA are indicating some delays, which are currently being analyzed and consequences assessed," M&G said in a statement. "M&G is working on back-up plans to ensure no impact on PET start-up."
M&G spokesman Scott Van Camp had no immediate comment on the delays. -- Xavier A. Cronin
