Altagas finds site for Canadian propane export facility
HOUSTON, January 21, 2016 (PCW) –- Calgary-based Altagas said Wednesday it found a site on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, British Columbia, for its proposed propane export facility.
The facility will have an export capacity of 1.2 million mt/yr. Ridley Island has connections to rail lines and a marine jetty with deep water access to the Pacific Ocean, the company said. Propane will be transported to the site via the existing CN rail network.
A final investment decision is expected this year. Start-up is expected in 2018, subject to consultation with First Nations and regulatory approvals. The facility is estimated at a cost of $400-$500 million.
