Westlake to expand Calvert City ethylene capacity by 70 million lb/year
HOUSTON, January 8, 2016 (PCW) -– Westlake Chemical Partners on Friday said it would expand ethylene capacity at its Calvert City, Kentucky facility by 70 million lb/yr during the first half of next year.
The facility currently has an ethylene capacity of 450 million lb/yr.
"This expansion, which combined with incremental capacity increases will total 100 million pounds of annual capacity, is in addition to the 250 million pound ethylene expansion at the Petro 1 facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, which is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2016,” said Westlake’s president and CEO Albert Chao.
The added production from both facilities will be sold to its parent company Westlake Chemical “at a price designed to generate a margin of ten cents per pound,” Chao added. – Samantha Hartke
