DuPont cracker turnaround planned for 2Q; Dow-DuPont merger delayed to 1H 2017
HOUSTON, January 24, 2017 (PCW) --- DuPont on Tuesday said it would take its 1.5 billion lbs/yr cracker in Orange, Texas, down for a turnaround in 2Q.
Preparations for the planned maintenance will begin in 1Q and will negatively impact 1Q income, DuPont said, describing it as a “mini-turnaround”.
The unit represents 2.32% of total US ethylene capacity and can consume 40,000 b/d of ethane.
The pending merger of Dow Chemical and DuPont has been delayed again from 1Q 2017 to 1H 2017, DuPont announced Tuesday.
Last year, DuPont pushed the closing of the merger from 2H 2016 to 1Q 2017. Regulatory approvals have been behind these delays, specifically in the European Union, which has requested a further review of potential global antitrust concerns.
As a result of the delay, DuPont only provided guidance through 1Q,
DuPont on Tuesday also announced 4Q net income of $265 million, compared to a $253 million loss in 4Q 2015. The increase was due to an uptick in sales and revenues in the Performance Materials, Nutrition & Health and Industrial Biosciences sectors.-- Samantha Hartke
