US PET scrap exports up 9% in August on demand from China, HK

HOUSTON, October 6, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports PET scrap, valued at $103.1 million in 2015, totaled 22,449 metric tons in August, up 9% or by 1,832 mt from August 2015, the latest USA Trade Online data show.

The increase was mostly due to more exports to China and Kong Kong, which together accounted for 82% of the August 2016 total.

Exports to China totaled 10,723 mt in August, up 4.6% or by 476 mt from August 2015, and to Hong Kong totaled 7,775 mt, up 14% or by 952 mt. Exports to Vietnam in August at 1,100 mt were up 51% or by 371 mt from a year earlier.
