Reliance expects to lift first USGC ethane cargo in December
HOUSTON, October 6, 2016 (PCW) – India’s Reliance Industries expects to lifts its first ethane cargo out of Enterprise Product Partners’ export terminal in December.
In 2014, Reliance signed a long-term agreement to export US ethane for use at its 1.5 million mt/ytr (3.3 billion lbs/yr) Jamnagar cracker in India. The length of the agreement has not been disclosed, but Reliance has said it will export 1.5 million mt/yr of ethane from the US.
India continues to struggle with exploration of its domestic shale reserves and even traditional production will be insufficient to supply the cracker.
Just last month, Reliance executives said the cracker is on track for completion by December. Meanwhile, its 1.6 million bbl ethane receipt tank at Jamnagar is coming online in the next few weeks. -- Samantha Hartke
