US PE scrap exports down 4% in Jan-Aug; up 8% to China

HOUSTON, October 13, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of PE scrap, valued at $289.7 million in 2015, totaled 468,306 metric tons in January-August, down 4% or 20,222 from the same period in 2015 , the latest USA Trade Online data show.

Exports to China were 225,660 mt in Jan-Aug 2016, 48% of the total and up 8% or 17,241 mt from the same months in 2015. Exports to Hong Kong, the second largest destination, totaled 105,473 mt, down 11.7% or 13,943 mt from the 2015 period.

Exports to the third largest destination, India, totaled 41,117 mt, down 92 mt or less than 1% from Jan-Aug 2015. Exports to Canada totaled 34,777 mt, down 47% or 30,515 mt from Jan-Aug 2015, and to Vietnam in the first eight months of 2016 they totaled 12,118 mt, down 13% or 1,852 mt from the 2015 period.
