Flint Hills restarts PDH unit in Houston
HOUSTON, October 16, 2017 (PCW) – Flint Hills Resources began restarting its 1.45 billion lbs/yr PDH unit in Houston over the weekend, according to a community hotline message.
“We are preparing to restart the plant after completing repairs to plant equipment. Start-up will take several days,” the notice stated.
The unit unexpectedly shut down in mid-August due to a “loss of instrument air on the compressor seal steam control valves,” according to a TCEQ filing at the time. The filing also stated the unit was being restarted shortly thereafter.
The unit went down in late March for a planned turnaround that lasted about two months. It consumes about 20,000 b/d of propane.
