ExxonMobil starts up Mont Belvieu PE unit
HOUSTON, October 17, 2017 (PCW) -- ExxonMobil has commenced production at one of two new PE units in Mt Belvieu, TX.
Each of the new units has a nameplate capacity of 650,000 mt/year (1.4 billion pounds/year).
Most of the new capacity is targeted at export markets. The units can produce mLLDPE grades, marketed under the Exceed and Enable trade names.
A significant portion of Mont Belvieu PE will be exported from the Port of Houston later this month. At peak, the site will ship more than 200 containers a day, ExxonMobil said in a news release.
Construction began in June 2014, and startup was expected in 3Q 2017 before Hurricane Harvey caused a 1-2 month delay.-- David Barry
