US plastic scrap exports, valued at $816.4 mil in 2015, down 3.3%
HOUSTON, December 16, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of plastic scrap totaled 1,613,090 metric tons through October, down 55,876 mt or 3.3% from Jan-Oct 2015, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
Exports were down for the categories of PE, PET and unsorted (or "other"), and up for PVC and PS.
The largest category, unsorted, saw exports through October at 595,942 mt, down 22,703 mt or 3.7% from the year earlier period. The next largest category, PE, saw exports in Jan-Oct 2016 of 590,001 mt, down 27,392 mt or 4.4% from the 2015 period. PS scrap exports totaled 28,676 mt through October, up 8,125 mt or 39.6% from Jan-Oct 2015.
All US plastic scrap exports in 2015 were valued at $816.4 million. -- Xavier A. Cronin
