PET scrap bales sold at 11.07 cpp in Florida bid offering
HOUSTON, December 28, 2016 (PCW) - PET bales from green and clear bottles and containers collected curbside sold Wednesday at 11.07 cpp FOB Palm Beach County, FL, in a municipal bid offering that is a monthly price marker for East Coast PET bale markets.
The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County sold 10 truckloads of this scrap PET (400,000 lbs) to OHRA Inc, for January pickup, the SWA announced. Its previous sale last month was 20 truckloads at 10.6 cpp.
The higher price this month -- prices usually fall in December--indicates strong demand from PET reclaimers and other bale processors, like bottle and packaging plants. Export demand has also been strong this year.
The SWA also sold three truckloads each of HDPE natural bales at 25.1 cpp to recycling giant Waste Management and HDPE mixed colors bales at 11.07 cpp to OHRA Inc.
It also sold two truckloads of baled numbers 1-7 bottles and containers (unsorted) at 2.85 cpp and a single truckload of large and oversized numbers 1-7 at 6.75 cpp, both to Dubitec America. -- Xavier A. Cronin
