Fluor wins contract for Mariner East 2 pipeline, storage facilities
HOUSTON, February 18, 2016 (PCW) –- Fluor Corporation on Thursday announced it was awarded the construction management contract by Sunoco Logistics for the Mariner East 2 project at its Marcus Hook Industrial Complex in Pennsylvania.
Fluor did not disclose the value of the contract.
The Mariner East project will transport natural gas liquids from Appalachia to Marcus Hook. The initial phase of the project, which moves propane, is already in service. It is expected to begin transporting ethane before the end of the first quarter. Mariner East 2 will expand the project’s initial capacity to 345,000 b/d and also includes new facilities at Marcus Hook to store, chill, process and distribute propane, butane and ethane.
Mariner East 2 is expected to be operational in Q4 2016.
Sunoco Logistics, meanwhile, is already mulling expanding Mariner East 2, expanding takeaway capacity and allowing the transport of heavier NGLs, as well as condensates and finished products. – Samantha Hartke
