Snowstorm causes delay in PET dumping decision to March 7
HOUSTON, February 2, 2016 (PCW) -- Last month's snowstorm which forced a shutdown of US government offices in Washington has resulted in a delay of a decision in an anti-dumping case involving US PET imports from Canada, Oman, India and China, a US International Trade Administration official, Tim Truman, told PCW Tuesday.
The decision, regarding "final determinations" in the case, was set for March 1 and is now set for March 7.
A preliminary decision in October 2015 found that packaging-grade PET imports from these countries had been dumped in the US in 2014 at less than fair value. This resulted in anti-dumping duties imposed on PET imports in the form of a cash bond that must be deposited with US Customs by the importer before a shipment can be cleared for entry.
Canada and China were the second and third largest exporters of PET to the US in 2014, respectively. -- Xavier A. Cronin
