US 2015 PET scrap exports surged to Taiwan, Turkey, Singapore, India
HOUSTON, February 29, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of PET scrap in 2015, although down 25% in total from 2014, surged in several countries, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
PET scrap exports last year to Taiwan totaled 11,656 metric tons, up 39% from 2014. Other 2015 totals:
Turkey, 1,313 MT, up 273%
Singapore, 668 MT, up 60.1%
India, 767 MT, up 83.5%
Haiti, 44 MT, up from 0
Italy, 24 MT, up from 0
Germany, 175 MT, up 660%
PET scrap exports to China, the largest destination by volume in 2014, were down 40% in 2015 at 143,236 MT.
PET scrap is one of five plastic scrap categories tracked by USA Trade Online, a unit of the US Census Bureau. The value of all US plastic scrap exports last year was $817.8 million, down from $952.8 million in 2014. -- Xavier A. Cronin
