PCV scrap imports up 8.5% in 2016, valued at $10.2 million

HOUSTON, February 22, 2017 (PCW) - US imports of PVC scrap totaled 21,476 metric tons in 2016, up 1,664 mt or 8.4% from 2015, the latest USA Trade Online data show.

Imports came from 17 countries and were valued at $10.2 million. Imports from Canada, the top source, totaled 9,799 mt in 2016, up 396 mt, or 4.2%; imports from Mexico, the number two source, were 6,430 mt in 2016, down 1,831 mt or 22%.

Imports from Spain, the number three source, surged to 2,208 mt in 2016, up 1,970 mt or 827%. Imports of PVC scrap from Saudi Arabia last year totaled 100 mt, up from zero in 2015. -- Xavier A. Cronin
