Waste Management shuts Texas MRFs, landfills, suspends service on weather
HOUSTON, January 16, 2018 (PCW) -- Recycling giant Waste Management has shut landfills and MRFs (materials recovery facilities) and suspended service in parts of Texas due to severe weather, the company announced on Tuesday.
Winter Storm Inga was dumping snow in the South and Northeast and creating icy conditions in central and southeastern Texas.
WM also posted service delays and suspensions in 11 other states.
The closed Texas MRFs are Beaumont, Clay Road, the Gasmer Recycling Facility and Houston Street MRF in San Antonio. The closed landfills are Atascocita, Conroe VII, New Boston and the Security Landfill.
The other states with weather-related delays and closures are Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Dakota, Ohio and Tennessee. -- Xavier A. Cronin
