ExxonMobil studying US Gulf PP expansion
HOUSTON, March 20, 2018 (PCW) -- ExxonMobil has started detailed engineering work on a potential US Gulf Coast PP expansion, with a final investment decision expected later this year, the company announced today.
The new unit would have a PP capacity of up to 450,000 mt (992 million pounds), and startup could come as early as 2021.
LyondellBasell is also studying a US Gulf Coast PP expansion early in the next decade, which could be tied to a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit for feedstock.
Formosa and Braskem have already begun construction on new US Gulf PP units, expected to start up within the next 1-2 years, and InterPipeline in late 2017 decided to build a PP/PDH complex in Alberta, Canada.-- David Barry
