US March ethylene contract agreements settle with decrease
HOUSTON, April 2, 2018 (PCW) –- Certain parties settling monthly ethylene contracts have been confirmed to have reached agreement at 28.25 cpp for March, down 1.75 cpp from February. Not all parties have agreed to this price.
One year ago, the March 2017 contract price was 30 cpp. Contract prices in 2017 ranged from a low of 29.25 cpp (July) to a high of 35.75 cpp (February). So far in 2018, contract prices have ranged from 28.25 cpp (March) to 32.75 cpp (January)
Mar spot ethylene traded in a range of 16-3 cpp for Texas and Louisiana combined; its 30-day weighted average was 19.656 cpp (down from 22.607 in February) and its 45-day weighted average was 19.887 cpp (down from 23.19 cpp in February).
Steam cracker operating rates in the US Gulf Coast were about 95% in February, compared with 96% in January and 92.9% for the year-to-date.
