Caliche secures first, long-term customer for Beaumont ethylene storage
HOUSTON, May 8, 2018 (PCW) –- Caliche Development Partners in Tuesday morning announced it had secured its first, long-term customer for ethylene storage at its Beaumont, TX cavern.
“Caliche will provide firm storage service in a substantial portion of the 600-million-pound capacity salt cavern for their customer’s ethylene and derivative operations in the Golden Triangle area, beginning in the third quarter of 2018,” the company said in a release.
The Houston-based company did not reveal the company’s name, but said its revenues place it in the top five of publicly traded oil, gas, refining, and petrochemical companies.
Caliche’s CEO Dave Marchese said the company expects to be fully subscribed for ethylene storage service in 2019 and further plans to support those customers with NGL feedstock storage service.
Caliche’s salt cavern facilities sit on 53 acres atop Spindletop Dome, with an additional 345-acre brine pond site located less than four miles away. When fully developed, the facility will provide up to 32 million barrels of purpose-built, salt cavern storage facilities. -- Samantha Hartke
