Global June benzene contracts see increases
HOUSTON, June 1, 2018 (PCW) – Global benzene contract prices were stronger month-on-month for June.
The US June contract price settled at 299 cpg ($894/mt) FOB HTC, up 6 cpg from May. The June European benzene contract price settled at $875/mt (€757/mt or 293 cpg) FOB ARA, up $17/mt from May. The Jun Asian benzene contract price settled at $860/mt (288 cpg) CFR Asia, up $10/mt from May.
During the month, spot values posted mixed results. US benzene spot values rose 7 cpg ($21/mt) or 2.4%, Europe was up $33/mt or 3.9%, but Asia fell $7/mt (0.8%). Brent crude gained $4.46/bbl (6.1%). US and European values were lifted by return of downstream demand as several styrene units returned to service. Asia, however, decreased on a swath of impending turnarounds.
