Ineos Oxide moves ahead with Gulf Coast ethylene oxide expansion
HOUSTON, June 5, 2018 (PCW) -- Ineos has decided to build an ethylene oxide (EO) and derivatives facility along the Gulf Coast, with startup expected in 2022.
Several sites are under consideration for the plant, which would have an initial capacity of about 270,000 mt/yr (600 million pounds/yr), and Ineos said it is evaluating competing EO technologies.
Confirmation of the plant location and technology partner are expected later this year. Ethoxylate derivative capacity would be located on-site.
In addition to supply by rail, the project will allow third-parties to co-locate on site and consume EO by pipeline, as required, an Ineos Oxide official said in a press release.
Ineos is the largest EO and ethoxylate producer in Europe. -- David Barry
