No PET bales for sale at August Florida municipal bid offering

HOUSTON, July 23, 2018 (PCW) -- No curbside PET bales will be offered at the August bid offering of plastic scrap by the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, FL, the SWA announced.

The SWA typically offers 10-12 truckloads (400,000-420,000 lbs) of PET bales at its monthly bid offering, and the price at which the bales are sold is used as a price indicator in many bale markets east of the Rockies.

The SWA did not give a reason for not offering PET bales.

Curbside PET bales typically include scrap PET collected from households and dropped off at recycling collection centers.

Meanwhile, the SWA is offering three truckloads each of the following plastic scrap bales for its Aug bid offering: HDPE natural, HDPE mixed colors and unsorted numbers 1-7 plastic scrap, including oversized and injection units.

Bids are due on Jul 31 by 2 pm EDT. -- Xavier A. Cronin
