McDermott awarded EPC contract for Bayport Polymers HDPE project
HOUSTON, September 25, 2018 (PCW) -- McDermott announced today that it has been awarded the EPC contract for Bayport Polymers' 625,000 mt/yr (1.38 billion lbs/yr) HDPE project.
Mechanical completion and startup of the Bay3 unit, utilizing Borstar process technology, are scheduled for 2021. The project will be adjacent to Bayport Polymers' two existing HDPE units in Bayport, TX.
McDermott said it plans to use a modular construction approach, fabricating and assembling process and pipe modules at its Altamira, Mexico plant.
Bayport Polymers is a joint venture of Total and Novealis Holdings (a joint venture of NOVA and Borealis).
The joint venture is also building a 1 million mt/yr ethane cracker in Port Arthur, TX. McDermott was also awarded the construction contract for that project in March 2017. -- David Barry
