Global benzene contract prices lower for October
HOUSTON, October 1, 2018 (PCW) -- The US October contract price settled at 285 cpg ($852/mt) FOB HTC, down 13 cpg from September. The October European benzene contract price settled at $839/mt (€717/mt or 281 cpg) FOB ARA, down $18/mt from September. The October Asian benzene contract price settled at $860/mt (288 cpg) CFR Asia, down $40/mt from September.
During the month, spot values were lower. US benzene spot values fell by 10 cpg ($30/mt) or 3.3%, and Asia decreased by $12/mt (1.4%). Europe was down by $40/mt or 4.6%. Brent crude gained $4.55/bbl (5.8%) during the month. Downstream production issues in several regions muted demand during the month.
