Ineos licenses Catofin technology for European PDH project
HOUSTON, October 2, 2018 (PCW) -- Ineos has licensed McDermott's Lummus Catofin technology for its planned 750,000 mt/yr PDH plant in Northern Europe, the company announced today.
A parallel agreement has been signed with Clariant for the long-term supply of catalyst for the unit.
Catofin technology is a chromium oxide-catalyzed process for removing hydrogen from propane feedstock to generate propylene, a useful chemical building block.
The PDH plant, which will supply polymer grade propylene (PGP) to Ineos' PP units and other derivatives businesses, is scheduled for commissioning in 2023. The location will be announced later this year.
In July, the company announced a Euro2.7 billion investment in the PDH plant and a new world scale ethane cracker, saying that both units will benefit from US shale gas economics. -- David Barry
