Global benzene contract prices lower for November
HOUSTON, November 1, 2018 (PCW) -- The US November benzene contract price settled at 280 cpg ($837/mt) FOB HTC, down 5 cpg from October. The November European benzene contract price settled at $788/mt (€693/mt or 264 cpg) FOB ARA, down $51/mt from October. The November Asian benzene contract price settled at $785/mt (263 cpg) CFR Asia, down $75/mt from October.
During the month, spot values were lower. US benzene spot values fell by 27 cpg ($81/mt), or 9.4%, and Asia decreased by $124/mt (14.2%). Europe was down by $108/mt or 12.6%. Brent crude lost $9.51/bbl (11.2%) during the month. Weak downstream demand amid falling global crude prices pressured values lower during the month. -- Tom Sosnowski
