Global benzene contract prices lower for December

HOUSTON, December 4, 2018 (PCW) -- The US December benzene contract price settled at 211 cpg ($631/mt) FOB HTC, down 69 cpg from November. The December European benzene contract price settled at $617/mt (€544/mt or 206 cpg) FOB ARA, down $171/mt from November. The December Asian benzene contract price settled at $660/mt (221 cpg) CFR Asia, down $125/mt from November.

During the month, spot values were lower. US benzene spot values fell by 52 cpg ($155/mt), or 20.3%, and Asia decreased by $98/mt (13.3%). Europe was down by $133/mt or 18.1%. Brent crude lost $14.18/bbl (19.5%) during the month. Benzene tracked lower throughout the month on the weaker overall energy complex. -- Tom Sosnowski
