The increased volume compensated in some degree for an absence of any imports in December 2015 from China and India, two major suppliers. This was likely the result of antidumping and countervailing duties imposed on PET imports from China and India by the US government last year. This occurred after US PET producers filed a complaint arguing that the imports in 2014 had been sold at an unfair value, and the production and/or marketing of them had been subsidized by the countries’ governments. -- Xavier A.
