Mixed plastic scrap exports to China down 52%, up 79% to HK, in January
HOUSTON, March 21, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of mixed plastic scrap to China were down 52% and to Hong Kong were up 79% in January, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
Kong Kong, Canada, and China were the top three destinations of US mixed plastic scrap exports in January.
This category comprises the second largest volume of the five plastic scrap export sectors tracked by USA Trade Online, a unit of the US Census Bureau., after PE scrap. Total mixed plastic scrap exports in January were 46,442 metric tons, down 5.5% from January 2015.
All US plastic scrap exports in 2015 totaled 2,058,000 MT valued at $817.8 million.
Mixed scrap includes PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS and other uncategorized plastics; the other four plastic scrap export categories are PET, PVC, PE and PS.
