Waste Management buys plastic scrap at 4 cpp in Florida bid offering
HOUSTON, March 3, 2016 (PCW) -- Recycling giant Waste Management was the winning bidder for mixed large/oversized plastic scrap at a widely watched monthly sale in Florida.
WM paid 4.1 cpp for a single truckload of numbers 1-7 baled mixed plastic scrap in the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County's March sale, SWA announced this week. The sales are referenced in the plastic scrap industry as price markers for markets east of the Rockies. Numbers 1-7 refers to plastic resin types – PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, PP, PS and “other”.
SWA also sold regular size numbers 1-7 mixed plastic baled bottles and containers at 2.5 cpp to Only Recycling; HDPE mixed-colors bales at 17.5 cpp to Carolina Fibre Corp; and HDPE natural bales at 25 cpp and PET bales at 9.65 cpp to Cellmark.
