Eastman shuts olefins unit at Longview on compressor trip: TCEQ filing
HOUSTON, March 31, 2016 (PCW) -- Eastman Chemical's HCC-3A olefins unit at Longview, Texas, was shut Wednesday due to a propylene refrigeration compressor trip, according to a filing made to the TCEQ.
The unit's ethylene capacity is 310 million pounds per year, or about 800,000 pounds per day, and represents less than 1% of Texas ethylene capacity. The unit is one of three olefins units at the Longview site.
Spot March ethylene was bid at 26.75 cpp Thursday morning, against offers at 29.5 cpp. March last traded at 28.375 cpp on Wednesday. Spot April ethylene was bid at 27 cpp and offered at 29.5 cpp. April last traded at 28.5 cpp on Wednesday. -- Kathy Hall
