G2X awards construction, technology contracts for Lake Charles methanol plant
HOUSTON, March 9, 2016 (PCW) -- G2X Energy announced late Tuesday it had selected Toyo Engineering for the construction of its world-scale methanol plant in Lake Charles.
Additionally, the company also said it had was licensing technology and technical services from Johnson Matthew for the project.
Values of these awards were not disclosed.
The 1.4 million mt/yr (3.1 billion lb/yr) Big Lake Fuels Methanol Project is expected to come online in 2019.
The news comes as other planned US methanol plant projects apparently fall by the wayside. Lasts week, Valero Energy said it was axing its planned plant at its St Charles refinery. In late February, Northwest Innovation Works halted its plans for a plant in Washington State, effectively putting into question its plans for two more such plants in the Pacific Northwest. -– Samantha Hartke
