Marathon natural gasoline, condensate Cornerstone pipe on track for 4Q start
HOUSTON, April 28, 2016 (PCW) -– Marathon Petroleum’s Cornerstone pipeline is on track to begin operations in the fourth quarter of the year, the company said Thursday.
The 50-mile pipeline will transport natural gasoline and condensate produced in Appalachia from Ohio processing plants to its 80,000 b/d refinery in Canton.
The project’s cost is about $250 million. Currently, Marathon Petroleum uses trucks to move liquids and condensate to and from its Canton refinery; about 100 condensate trackers move product from it every day.
The pipeline will carry natural gasoline and condensate through a 16-inch-diameter, 42-mile-long pipeline from Cadiz to storage tanks near East Sparta. That section of the pipeline will be able to transport 180,000 b/d. From East Sparta, an 8-inch-diameter pipe will move 45,000 b/d of condensate to the Canton refinery. -- Samantha Hartke
