CP Chem’s ethane cracker 75% complete, on track for mid-2017 start-up

HOUSTON, April 29, 2016 (PCW) –- CP Chemical’s new ethane cracker is about 75% complete and is on track to begin service in mid-2017, the company said Friday.

The 3.3 billion lb/yr cracker and related polyethylene facilities at its Cedar Bayou complex will increase CP Chem’s global ethylene and polyethylene capacity by about one-third.

Meanwhile, the LPG export terminal at Freeport is about 80% complete and is also on track for its in-service date in the second half of this year. It will have a capacity of 150,000 b/d. -- Samantha Hartke
