US May benzene contract price settles down 9-11 cpg; Europe also lower
HOUSTON, April 29, 2016 (PCW) –- The US May benzene contract price has settled at 208 cpg ($622/mt), 9-11 cpg lower than the split Apr contract settlement of 217 cpg ($649/mt) and 219 cpg ($655/mt).
Spot benzene prices have fallen about 5 cpg during the month. Crude, however, rose nearly $7.70/bbl during the same time frame.
On Friday as well, the European May benzene contract price was reported to be settled down €17 to €599/mt ($695/mt or 232 cpg) CIF ARA. European spot prices fell about $5/mt (1.7 cpg) during the month.
On Thursday, the Asian May contract price settled at $650/mt (217 cpg), $10/mt up from its Apr CP. FOB Korea spot prices rose $23/mt (7.7 cpg) during the month. -- Samantha Hartke
