PET scrap exports, valued at $87.4 mil in 2016, up 75% in February
HOUSTON, April 12, 2017 (PCW) -- US exports of PET scrap in February totaled 24,495 metric tons, up 10,524 mt, or 75%, from February 2016, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
The rise was mostly the result of increased volumes to China and Hong Kong, which together accounted for 87% of the total.
Exports to China in February were 11,594 mt, up 83%, and to Hong Kong they totaled 9,630 mt, up 61%. Exports to Vietnam in February were 1,258 mt, up from 293 mt a year earlier, and to India were 519 mt, up from 38. Exports to St Lucia in February totaled 2 mt, up from none a year earlier.
Full year 2016 PET scrap exports totaled 252,424 mt valued at $87.4 million. --- Xavier A. Cronin
