Boardwalk’s pipe, storage services for Sasol cracker online in late 2017
HOUSTON, May 2, 2016 (PCW) -– Boardwalk Pipeline Partners’ ethane and ethylene transportation and storage services for Sasol’s Lake Charles cracker is expected to be in service in late 2017, company executive said Monday.
Last November, the company said its transport and storage services would come online in 2H 2017.
Sasol’s 3.3 billion lb/yr cracker and derivative units at Lake Charles is under construction. It has a general in-service timeline in 2018, although in March the company said it would delay start-up of some units to 2019.
Sasol said at the time that it would conduct a review of the project’s cost and schedule and would be completed by the middle of the year.
On Monday, Boardwalk reported 1Q net income of $101 million, up nearly 30% of the $77.7 million from 1Q 2015. The company attributed the increase to the mid-2015 return to service of the Evangeline ethylene pipeline and revenues from the settled Gulf South natural gas pipeline rate case, among others. -- Samantha Hartke
