US plastic scrap exports down 13.5% in March
Houston, May 6, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of plastic scrap, valued at $817.8 million in 2015, were down by 25,672 metric tons or 13.5% in March from March 2015, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
Exports were down in four of the five categories tracked by USA Trade Online, a unit of the US Census Bureau. Exports of PS scrap in March totaled 2,999 mt, up by 829 mt from March 2015.
The largest drop in exports came in the PET category at 17,205 mt in March, down by 14,404 mt or 45.6% from March 2015.
Exports to China, comprising 37% of March's total, were 60,365 mt, down by 22,520 mt or 27% from March 2015. -- Xavier A. Cronin
