US PET imports down 4% in April; up 15% from Mexico
HOUSTON, June 6, 2016 (PCW) -- US imports of packaging grade PET totaled 54,508 metric tons in April, down 4% from a year earlier, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
Imports from Mexico, the largest source of imported PET, were 19,299 mt in April, up 15% from April 2015.
Imports fell to just 15 mt from China, compared to 5,868 mt in April 2015; 38 mt from Oman, down from 4,290 mt, and 219 mt from India, compared to 5,439 mt a year earlier. Antidumping duties on PET imports from these countries and Canada were imposed last year. Canada's April imports totaled 8,562 mt, down 32% from a year earlier. -- Xavier A. Cronin
