HOUSTON, June 20, 2017 (PCW) -- US exports of PET with a viscosity of 78 ml/gram or higher totaled 19,552 metric tons valued at $34.1 million in Jan-Apr, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
USA Trade Online, a unit of the US Commerce Department's Census Bureau, did not separate PET exports with this IV (considered bottle grade) in 2016. Instead, it had a general category of all PET exports excluding PET scrap.
The bottle grade PET exports in Jan-Apr 2017 went to 42 countries. The top destination was Mexico at 9,848 mt followed by Canada at 2,766 mt and China at 2,014 mt. Small export quantities were seen to countries around the world. Exports to Turks and Caicos Islands, for example, totaled 12 mt, and to Israel were 20 mt.
The exports in Jan-Apr 2017 compare with bottle grade PET imports of 236,336 mt from 32 countries in the same period.
