CB&I contracted to expand DuPont's Orange cracker

HOUSTON, June 21, 2017 (PCW) -- CB&I has been contracted to build a new ethane cracking furnace that will add 200 million lbs/yr ethylene capacity at DuPont's Sabine River Works plant in Orange, Texas.

The new furnace is part of DuPont's effort to expand its downstream ethylene copolymers capacity.

The EPC (Engineering, procurement and construction) contract was valued at approximately $40 million.

No timeline was given for the startup of the new furnace. DuPont's cracker currently has an ethylene capacity of 1.5 billion lbs/yr. -- David Barry
