NAPCO to Temporarily Close Its Greensboro, GA PVC Pipe Plant
HOUSTON, July 1, 2016 (PCW) –- North American Pipe Corporation (NAPCO), a subsidiary of Westlake Chemical, sent a letter to customers today announcing that it would be temporarily closing its Greensboro, GA pipe plant.
According to the letter, the plant has been experiencing production difficulties for the past several months. Management has determined that the best course of action is to close the plant for approximately 30 days to conduct maintenance and reliability work.
During the shutdown, inventory will continue to be shipped from the plant to fill customer orders. In addition, NAPCO will be filling orders for Southeast customers from its other plants.
A few pipe competitors commented that the timing of the shutdown was interesting, as it will reduce NAPCO’s PVC resin requirements during the force majeure it announced earlier this week at its Calvert City, KY site. -- Donna Todd
