US PET scrap exports down 36% through May on less to China, HK

HOUSTON, July 12, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of PET scrap, valued at $103.1 million in 2015, totaled 87,730 metric tons in January-May, down by 49,557 mt or 36% from the year-ago period, the latest USA Trade Online data show.

The drop was the result of a falloff in exports to China and Hong Kong; together they received 87% of the total in Jan-May 2016.
