Ascend increasing prices of nylon intermediates August 1

HOUSTON, July 26, 2016 (PCW) -- Chemical producer Ascend Performance Materials will increase the price of its nylon intermediates on August 1 due to strong demand, the company announced on Tuesday.

The following will be affected: Acrylonitrile (AN) and adipic acid (AA), a 6 cpp increase; hexamethylene diamine (HMD) and diponitrile (ADN), a 12 cpp increase. Terms are "as contracts allow" with non-contract prices determined on an "order-by-order basis," Ascend said.

The intermediates are produced at the company's plants in Decatur, Alabama, Alvin, Texas, and Pensacola, Florida. The strong demand is due to tight supply of these intermediates, a company spokeswoman told PCW. -- Xavier A. Cronin
