Boardwalk transportation, storage service for Sasol cracker online late ‘17
HOUSTON, August 1, 2016 (PCW) -– Boardwalk Pipeline Partners on Monday said its Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream project, which will provide ethane and ethylene transportation and storage services for Sasol’s new ethane cracker and derivatives complex will begin service in late 2017.
Sasol’s 3 billion lbs/yr cracker and derivatives units are expected to go into service in 2019.
Additionally, Boardwalk has inked deals with two petrochemical customers in Louisiana, the first of which would provide transportation and storage services at its Choctaw Hub and includes transportation on the Evangeline ethylene pipeline. The contract runs for 10 years and the expected in-service date is early 2018. With the second contract, Boardwalk will provide transportation and storage services at the Sulphur Hub, which is also in Louisiana. This contract’s term is 15 years and the expected in-service date is late 2017.
Boardwalk also reported second-quarter earnings of $65.7 million, up nearly 63% from the year-ago period. The company attributed the increase to a $12.7 million settlement from a legal claim, the return to service in mid-2015 of the Evangeline ethylene pipeline system and recently completed natural gas pipeline growth projects. -- Samantha Hartke
