Enterprise Product Partners’ 1st ethane export cargo loading delayed
HOUSTON, August 4, 2016 (PCW) -– The first ethane export cargo to be loaded at Enterprise Product Partners’ new terminal at Morgan’s Point on the Houston Ship Channel has been delayed as the facility continues to be in the commissioning phase.
EPD said in its earnings call last week it expected the first ethane vessel at the 200,000 b/d facility to arrive on Aug 1.
The JS Ineos Insight at the time was in the Gulf of Mexico, but maritime data shows it never docked at the facility and is now headed for the Marcus Hook export terminal in Pennsylvania. Shipping sources on Thursday said the ship was re-routed because the EPD terminal was not ready to load the cargo.
The sources added the facility was likely to be ready to load its first cargo later this month.
Meanwhile, maritime data shows that the JS Ineos Intrepid has left Rafnes, Norway, and is headed for Houston with an estimated arrival date of Aug 17, making it a likely candidate for ethane’s first lifting out of the Gulf Coast.
The Intrepid was also the first vessel to move the first US ethane out of the Marcus Hook terminal in March. -- Samantha Hartke
