US plastic scrap exports steady in H1 2016; non-sorted up 18%
HOUSTON, August 11, 2016 (PCW) -- US exports of plastic scrap in the first six months of 2016 totaled 958,243 mt, down by 2,280 mt or just 0.24% from 1H1 2015, the latest USA Trade Online data show.
Of this total, PET scrap exports were 106,992 mt in H1 2016, down 57,001 mt or 35% from the 2015 period; exports of non-sorted plastic scrap, the largest category by volume, totaled 364,413 mt, up 55,420 mt or 18%.
Exports of PE scrap totaled 346,262 mt in H1 2016, down 22,759 mt or 6% from the year ago period. For scrap PVC, exports totaled 122,958 mt in H1 2016, up 17,622 mt or 17%. For the final category, PS, exports totaled 17,618 in 1H 2016, up 4,438 mt or 33% from the 2015 period. -- Xavier A. Cronin
