Braskem-Idesa 2Q PE output slows
HOUSTON, August 16, 2017 (PCW) -- Braskem-Idesa's PE plants operated at a utilization rate of 83% in 2Q, down 14 percentage points from the prior quarter, Braskem reported today.
The company cited operating adjustments and one-off adjustments to ethane supply as reasons for the slowdown.
PE sales for 1H 2017 amounted to 503,000 mt, half of which was sold in the Mexican market.
Sales volumes to Mexico grew by 4% to 129,659 mt in 2Q, while export volumes decreased by 22% to 109,294 mt.
Meanwhile, Braskem's US PP business produced 381,304 mt in 2Q, for a capacity utilization rate of 97%, up one percentage point from the prior quarter.
