Flint Hills’ PDH shuts down unexpectedly
HOUSTON, August 17, 2017 (PCW) -- Flint Hills Resources unexpectedly shut down its 1.45 billion lbs/yr propane dehydrogenation unit in Houston late Wednesday, according to a TCEQ filing.
The shutdown was due to a loss of instrument air on the compressor seal steam control valves, the filing stated. The unit was being restarted.
The unit went down in late March for a planned turnaround that lasted about two months. It consumes about 20,000 b/d of propane.
August PGP was slightly higher Thursday, trading at 39 cpp. It was last assessed at 38.875 cpp on Wednesday.
